I love the look of Autumn. Evie also seems to love it – the leaves fascinate her. She’s happiest, of course, when she can manage putting them into her mouth, but that is perhaps not the best variety of fibre for her diet!
Evie generally likes to be outdoors. I guess there is so much more to see for a little person for whom everything is new. I take her for walks most days, but now we are having to plan around the weather a bit more. We did have a short walk today before the rain set in.
Isn’t it interesting how much more strangers on the street will approach you and talk when you have a baby?? The world seems a much more talkative place than it was 9 months ago! Although, it did strike me today that this new attention can be quite challenging. It’s no longer possible to just politely walk past someone with a slight head nod as sufficient acknowledgment of their passing by you. People you don’t know will expect you to delay your journey as they fulfill their desire to interact with a baby.
I’m okay with this to some extent, but I have to say that it does bother me somewhat when strangers feel free to touch Evie. I’m sure most parents can identify with this issue! Is there a polite way to say “please don’t touch my child”? If so, I can’t think of it yet!
All I have thought of so far is touching their faces in response and saying “aren’t you just soooo cute” right up close. It doesn’t seem to make Evie smile, but since so many seem to think it will…
With Tarsh approaching the third trimester of her pregnancy, I’m reminded of something I heard in my own antenatal classses…
“for a pregnant woman, a light stroll is like a jog, a power walk is like running, and running is like a marathon”.
Oh, and of course, “why stand when you can sit?”.
Carrying a baby is such an amazing time. Words don’t quite suffice when it comes to explaining how it feels when your baby moves. But it can also be rather tiring for your body to accommodate another person. A perfect time for some pampering and putting your feet up!

evie lala are proud to be able to stock isi-B?¢‚Äû¬¢ children’s clothing – especially since all of the isi-B?¢‚Äû¬¢ range are designed and made in Australia. evie lala are quite taken not only with the style of the isi-B?¢‚Äû¬¢ clothes, but with the beautiful, quality fabrics that they are made with.
“isi-B?¢‚Äû¬¢ was born soon after the birth of isi-B?¢‚Äû¬¢ founder, Amanda Lincke’s first daughter Isabella. Amanda was inspired to begin isiB?¢‚Äû¬¢ because of a gap she noticed in the Australian babywear market.
Over the next three years the label has evolved to include everyday fashion pieces for boys and girls. The range is sized from 000-5 and is focused on comfortable to wear, easy care, value for money Australian made fashion.”
A little something I read the other day that I liked…
?¢‚Ǩ?ìAs soon as a child has been born, parents have a special task to perform: you must say goodbye to your “dream child” and greet, accept and take on your real one – with her qualities, her appearance, her gender and her behaviours.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

First things first… Happy Mother’s Day (or belated Mother’s Day) for all the mum’s reading this. We hope you had a wonder day… at the very least a sleep in!
Evie’s been very chatty today. She’s really cracked me up, having real ‘conversations’ about things. Only I, of course, have no idea what these conversations are about.
It’s like it’s her own little language. The noises sound like words, and there seems to be the rhythm of sentences in there…
She’s been babbling for months, but somehow today there just seemed to be so much more behind it all.
So, we have our chats. I can’t wait until she really can talk and I’ll know what she’s telling me!
I’ve been busy reading lately.
“Save Our Sleep” by Tizzy Hall
“Helping Your Baby to Sleep” by Anni Gethin & Beth Macgregor
“Sleeping Like a Baby” by Pinky McKay
and the list goes on…
At a guess, I’d say that at some point most parents face the challenge of dealing with difficult sleeping patterns. Mum’s groups all over the world must be filled with the glassy, bloodshot eyes of mothers bonding in the common experience of “baby sleep issues”.
Evie’s been “a little trick” lately, as her Grandmother puts it. I think we must be in the clingy stage where separation anxiety kicks in. Her cot is suddenly far less appealing than the bed that her parents are in. Oh, and her parents aren’t in the cot during the day either – so why would she want to be in there???
Mind you, that’s all guessing! The sleep available advice seems to all contradict each other. Or is it just that I’m reading it through my bloodshot eyes?
The good news is we’ll work through it and eventually we’ll find what works for Evie. Oh, and despite the sleep deprivation, she’s still lovely.
Well before the idea of evie lala came about, I purchased my own Belleze. Hence our interest in adding them to our online collection.
I have worn them almost everyday since having Evie (who is now eight months old). I’m a fan because they allow me to breastfeed Evie without exposing my tummy. I can pull my top up to feed and not get cold, as well as not be half nudie! Oh, and I saved a lot of money by avoiding having to buy nursing tops (that I wasn’t a big fan of anyway….)
Now that Tarsh is pregnant (due in August – woohoo!), she’s wearing Belleze belly tubes to avoid buying heaps of maternity clothes. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they look really good too.
Belleze are designed and made in New Zealand using quality fabrics. I’m a personal fan of the merino range, while Tarsh tends to favour the designer pattern look.
